Once a vital issue for Republicans, Gay Marriage has been all but forgotten by the current nominees. Some analysts believe that indifference is the main reason. Others point to the variety of other pressing issues surrounding the upcoming presidential election. Furthermore, some say that Republicans are doing this simply because they want to appeal to moderate voters and Libertarians.
Whatever the reason, I'm glad that the Republicans have dropped the anti-Gay thing. Hopefully this extends to policy and not just rhetoric. I am mostly Right-wing myself, but I hesitate to call myself a Republican. If this trend continues, I will identify better with the American Right.
I think the adaptation and toleration of homosexuals is going to be a good thing for the Republican Party. As I imagine, gay marriage is supported by most Americans, which can garner more votes for the GOP in future elections and support in the Congress. Not only will it benefit Republicans in elections, but the gay community as well.
