Drug War Slayings

In Mexico city, four reporters and photographers covering the perilous drug cartel crimes have been slain in less than a week after posting articles over the cartels. The area where these reports were, was in Veracruz state and two Mexican drug cartels are fighting over control of smuggling routes. They are also targeting sources of independent information in this area. This raid is threatening the media and warns to add Veracruz to the growing list of states where the cartels are going to snuff out reporters reporting on the war on drugs.

In my opinion, the Mexican government is not doing enough to stop this crisis. Innocent people are getting killed and they are just trying to do their job. This is also making reporters afraid for their lives so they are more likely to lie in the paper about the drug cartels. This needs to end and the drug cartels need to be brought down.

  1. I agree with you, drug cartels seem like they are everywhere through out Mexico. I think pretty soon US will limit the ammount of US citizens that can go there for a vacation or something because of how bad it has gotten there.

  2. Mexico is doing absolutly nothing when it comes to drug enforcement. The U.S. is doing more and they are doing hardly anything also. I also agree with the fact that many innocent people are getting injured or killed. Mexico needs to do more with there drug cartel problems.

  3. I agree as well. Also I wonder if these drug cartels as categorized as terrorist because they are a threat to our society. I find it strange the we don't focus on that as much as we do terrorism itself. Innocent civilians and people are still being killed as a result of this. Also drugs are a serious problem and by not taking the problem serious it just continues to get worse and worse. Something needs to be done.

  4. I agree, drug cartels need to be stopped in Mexico. The U.S. can help this by patrolling the border better and limit the drugs coming into the country. This will then limit the drug cartels. Reporters aren't going to be the only ones scared of going into Mexico, people on vacation will also. This will cause less tourism money and Mexico would suffer from this. Stopping the drug cartels should be Mexico's number one goal at this point.
