Starbucks and charities

http://blogs.cfr.org/renewing-america/2012/05/03/starbucks-charity-and-job-creation-an-odd-mix-that-could-actually-work/

Starbucks is partning up with a charitiy to help stop unemployment for the untied states. Starbucks partnered up with Opportuity Finace Network, which provides finacials for the community. they loan money to the people who dont have jobs but still need the little push to get to start looking for jobs. the institution have collectived over 10 billion dollars and handed it out to the people that need it.

I believe its a great idea for starbucks to help out a worthy cause. But the problem is the people that they give the money too might not look for  a job, them might use the money for selfish gain. The world has gone to it dark times and it is time for some change.

  1. I agree, it is good that Starbucks is helping out with OFN to give aid to the unemployed. Maybe now other companies will start to help out too.

  2. I have never tried Starbucks but since they partnered up with Opportunity Finance Network, I just might have to start drinking coffee. Since it's for a good cause.

  3. I agree with you that even if OFN gives the poor people money, who says they won't just go out again and spend it gambling and on alcohol/tobacco. Most of the time, there is a reason they are unemployed. But I like how Starbucks is combining with OFN to gives others a second chance.

  4. Thats kind of sad to hear to tel you the truth. I mean its good to hear that people are helping out and what not, but the fact is their fear about them useing the money for other reasons may be more real than anything.

  5. I agree with this that it is a good idea. I think this is a good idea because there are people needing help out there that cant really do much for them selves. my mom drinks starbucks all the time now i can say its a good cause.

  6. I got a Starbucks gift card at prom... This might be what keeps me coming back even after my card no longer has money haha! It is nice to hear that starbucks is trying to make a change. It's the little things that count, and you've got to start somewhere. I do think its a bad idea to "lend" money to the jobless people though, because everyone knows how that goes :/
