Final- Obama Defends Aggressive Campaigning

As of May 22, President Obama is in stark defense of his "increasingly aggressive attacks on Mitt Romney's business record." Recently, the President has released statements and advertisements that declare the Republican Nominee "a vampire" for his history in capitalism. In response, even his fellow Democrats call the political turmoil "nauseating," and state that the public is sick of seeing it on both sides of the election. Soon after making this statement, Corey Booker, mayor of Newark, New Jersey, released a YouTube video recanting on his previous statement, but most view it basically as a hostage video that the Democratic Party had a hand in.

Americans deserve to hear why each candidate is fit for the role of President of the United States of America. Unfortunately, most of what the public is given amounts to a statement of, "The other guy is evil, so you should vote for me." Corey Booker got it right when he said that the whole situation is nauseating. Everyone is sick of hearing the negative qualities of candidates. We want to hear why you should win, not why your opponents should lose.

This year, by covering the 2012 Presidential Election, I have learned quite a bit. As a result of basic need, I researched each candidate and found the key points of his candidacy so that I could clearly articulate them to my classmates. From week to week I followed the Republican party delegate count and learned what to expect from specific areas of the country. Lastly, by keeping up to date on the 2012 election, I learned to appreciate American politics and see how important it is in our society. I am truly eager to see how this election will turn out, and there is no doubt in my mind that history will be made as a result.
