The Price of Peace in Uganda

http://www.cfr.org/uganda/price-peace-uganda/p13913

This blog was posted by a reporter from the Washington Post. The reporter talks about how he visited the city of Kampala in Uganda. He states that he met many villagers who had been deeply affected by the LRA, a cultish rebel group that has caused perhaps 100,000 deaths and displaced more than 1.5 million people, lead by Joseph Kony. He said the one story that sticks in his mind is when a young woman, who had been abducted by the LRA, told him that the army made them have a "welcoming meal" after they were abducted which consisted of the dead bodies of their own neighbors. This was to instill fear on the captured people.

I think that this is very disturbing. I knew that Kony and the LRA did terrible things to the villagers that they abduct but to make them fear one another and even themselves is just heartless. I cannot even imagine what goes on in his head when he thinks of things to scare and harm these innocent people, and especially children. I cant imagine either seeing it first had like this reporter did. I think I would be so overwhelmed with emotion for these people that I wouldn't even know what to do or how to help them.
