Suicide Bomber Attacks Check Post in Pakistan

In Peshawar Pakistan a Taliban suicide bomber targeted a military check post. The bomber was said to have been a teenager maybe around 17. He ended killing 19 including two senior officers, as well as injuring 57 people. This attack has been one of many recently. It is suspected that after the United states released 17 of Osama bin Laden there will be many to come, because they spoke of high civilian casualties. The attack on the military compound was staged merely one day after the U.S released them. A taliban spokesman said, " the two officials had been targeted in retaliation for the death of Sheikh Marwan, an Al Qaeda commander killed by security forces in Bajaur in 2011."

I personally don't find this surprising at all. It seems that every time the U.S does something involving the Middle East, regardless of what it is they retaliate. I think they do this just to show us that they are still willing to fight back and have not forgiven us. Also though I feel maybe it wasn't a good idea to release those letters to the public. I mean what good could really come out of it? It only stirs up fear in society, and reminds those involved in Al Qaeda what they are meant to do. But regardless of what we do things like this will continue to happen in the middle east.

  1. Problem of being such a free press society, by law we are required to allow access to such info - and Obama seeks to distance himself from Bush's avoiding that kind of transparency in national security to the detriment of civil liberties. Tough balance to find.

  2. I agree that this isn't surprising at all. I don't think that attacks like these will slow down at all in the near future, either. I also agree that although everyone always wants to know all that is going on, it can be somewhat scary to actually hear the truth.

  3. The truth is scary, I mean we know its happening of course but what are we going to do about it? I mean I know we can't fix everything that's going on in the world. We are forced to live with it. How will this change in the future?
