This article is about how people want to change parts in cars to make them burn gasoline in a cleaner manor. They want to do this so the people that still don't want to go electric still wont harm the environment as much. But in order to do this it will force the Oil refineries to reduce the sulfur in the gasoline by two-thirds. But this is a problem because it will take more labor, which gas prices will go up even more. A problem our government is already trying to deal with.
I personally don't care for the idea. I mean yes it would help our environment and all but it will just make people mad. I know it will make me mad. Because what if you don't drive one of those "Clean Cars"? Why should you have to pay more for gas if you don't even have one of those cars to begin with. So I think it would be a better Idea to just wait on this idea and keep pushing electric cars.
I would have to agree. I don't see a reason to compromise with using oil and being green, I feel like we need to make the jump straight from using oil, to using eletricity or solar or any other source of power that will be created in the near future instead of trying to make a slow transition that will only hurt our economy even more.
ReplyDeletebut then there is no incentive to buy the cleaner cars.
ReplyDeleteAlso this post is late scored. (Due 4/2)
ReplyDeleteI am not fully aware of the depth of the issue but it seems to be a good idea. Oil is a non-renewable resource so we need to start conserving it at some point. Buying a new part for your car is much more reasonable for most people versus going out and buying a new green car. To respond to your opinion on gas prices, yes they may go up from having to change the sulfur content, but if the cars use less gas from the new parts won't we still spend relatively the same amount of money? Like I said I am not an expert on this but from an outsiders view it seems like a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI believe that going green is a good idea at some point in the future. At this point in time, due to the rising gas prices and current unempolyment rate, I do not believe it is a great idea though. America is also very dependent on oil and it would be very hard to convince Americans to go completely oil free. It would also cost a ton of money to make these fuels also.
ReplyDeletegoing green is a great idea but it comes at huge conquences. with going green comes the effects it has on the earth. when we do go green then everyone would not like the idea of driving a green car. If we didnt tell anyone that the car was green then their would be some big problems too.
ReplyDeleteAmerica cannot simply swap out their engines like this for fuel efficiency, the cost would be astronomical and the people of America would not take kindly to it. I agree with Heath. The inefficiencies caused from this system would undoubtedly result in economic unrest.
