There are multiple landmines between the Syria and Turkish border. There has been about 10 accidents within the last two weeks. The syrians are trying to get Turkey to get rid of them for safety but they think that the landmines are for their own safety. A 25 year old boy tried to escape with his family out of Turkey and he set off a landmine and lost his foot to it. Landmines are causing a lot of trouble in the world today.

  1. Yeah, you think about what if there was landminds in the US, what would we do to find all of them in a safe way? I think some countries like landminds because they want to be isolated and defend themselfs from a possible invasion.

  2. I did not realize that there were landmines in Turkey. Usually people imagine landmines being located third world countries. I guess since Syria is currently in the process of the Arab Spring Turkey would put them there to keep out refuges. I think that if people are trying to escape they should be allowed to go into Turkey, they just need to set up camps for them. It should not be as dangerous leaving Syria as their homes are.

  3. Its crazy to think that landmines are causing so many accidents. It seems like they need to have a safer system, otherwise just get rid of them as the syrians suggested.
