Drug War - Mexico's lone legal gun shop located on army base

This article is about Mexico and their restrictive gun laws. There is one spot in Mexico that a person can buy a gun legally and it is located on a military base. The base is ran by the Mexican army. People can still get guns very easily if they have the money or the right connections. The drug gangs get their weapons mostly from the United States. Mexican president Felipe Calderon says that authorities have found more than 140,000 weapons since he became president in 2006.

In my opinion, Mexican civilians not being able to purchase a gun with the exception of one place is more of a good thing than a bad thing. The good part is that they will have less weapons that the people can buy. The drug cartels would find a way to buy as many weapons as possible if there were gun shops open everywhere. The bad thing is that civilians would have a harder time protecting themselves from the drug cartels. Overall, I think that they are right in that they only have one gun shop in the Mexico and that happens to be in a military base under army control.

In my opinion, the website I chose looked to be like it was from Buenos Aries, Argentina. It has Spanish links on the page that take you to things about Mexico. It has other links down farther on the page about other problems worldwide. The author's name wasn't very Argentinian, Tim Johnson, but I still believe that this article was from Argentina.
