Religious Leaders Mourn Ugandan Gay Rights Activist

Religious leaders in America are publicly praising gay rights activist David Kato, who was killed for his beliefs in his home country of Uganda. The figureheads spoke out against the anti-gay death penalty in that country. This comes in contrast to their positions on gay rights in America, where they firmly oppose gay marriage.

I think this perfectly illustrates how far ahead we are when compared to third-world nations like Uganda. With all of our demonization of pastors and priests for opposing gay marriage, it's easy to forget that gay people have it much worse in many other countries. Of course, this principle extends far beyond gay rights. This is also another example of how much better all of us have it here in America. Here, we debate over whether one group of people should be able to do something that the others can, while over there they debate about whether a group of people gets to live at all.

  1. It's pretty sicking that other countrys are willing to due things like this. That's like killing a crippled war veteran because they can no longer walk. I agree with you though, America is a lot more open minded then most others, but the most open minded as well.
