Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign

As of April 10, 2012, the GOP Nomination is nearly assured to rest on the shoulders of Mitt Romney after the announced suspension of Rick Santorum's Presidential Campaign. Although Mr. Santorum was second in the delegate count, the decision to end his pursuit of becoming this year's Presidential Nominee was made and announced on a trip to his home state of Pennsylvania. The fallout of this event is far-reaching to say the least and will almost definitely result in a "Romney sweep" of the remaining delegates. Additionally, some speculate that Rick Santorum's bow-out could pave the way for a potential voice in Romney's campaign, and possibly his administration. Regardless of what will occur as a result, the rag-tag, come from behind campaign of Rick Santorum has officially come to a close.

Personally, I am disapointed that there is no chance to see a future President Santorum. As a Republican, I was hoping that my vote in the 2012 Presidential Election would be for Rick Santorum, but clearly this is no longer a possibility. His surprise victories in states like Iowa and Colorado gave hope to his supporters across the nation, but I am happy to see him end his campaign on a good note, so to speak. Ideally, it would be great to see him with an official position in the Romney Campaign. As a candidate, he could not left the Race more humbly, and I wish all the best to him and his family.

  1. Putting my political beliefs aside, I am glad to see Rick Santorum drop out, not because of my political affiliation, but because his family needed him and he realized that. Though Gingrich has said that he is going to stay in the race until the convention, unless someone spectacular comes in from left field, Romney will be the Republican nominee.

  2. I agree Santorum did bow out at a good time and in a respectable way. I have to say I was suprised to here he dorped out because I thought he could have taken the Republican nomination.

  3. I'm quite surprised that Santorum dropped out this early in the race. I expected him to wait until Pennsylvania to drop out or not. But I understand why he had to go. His child was getting sick and his campaign was not doing too well. Since Gingrich is about to drop out next week and endorse Romney, the anti-Romney vote may have to depend on Ron Paul's delegate strategy which is actually working across the country sweeping the majority of delegates in states like Minnesota, Colorado, and even Iowa!

  4. This is good for the Republican Party. I feel that he was too conservative to win the general election. Also, I prefer Mitt Romney, who is more in tune with my beliefs.
