Base in Yemen Is Attacked by Militants (Terrorism)

This article is about militants in Yemen more then likely linked to Al Qaeda attacking a military base. Yemen is known for it's strong hold of Al Qaeda members. During this attack 17 army officers were killed, and 13 militants. The U.S had to call in help from the fighter jets. Also this article talks about how the U.S found out about two failed attacks the Al Qaeda had had planned for the U.S. As a result the U.S attacked the Arabian Peninsula where those groups are located. They sent in remotely controlled drones and attacked multiple times killing four militants.

My response to this is that personally I think we just need to get out of the middle east. Honestly the only thing we are doing is strengthening their hatred for us.  In doing that yes we are uniting them, but not in a way that is beneficial to us. I do understand that without us their limited structure would fall to pieces, and initially they would probably attack us, but eventually they would stop and focus on bigger issues. The U.S can't always help people out of their problems, we have our own, and they really need to be focused on. Personally I think we should go back to the ways of splendid isolation. Although that would be impossible, just an idea. My last thought on this is I  have no sympathy for the U.S because more then not we hear of a possible attack that never actually happened so we just attack them anyways, making us the bad guys.

  1. I think you were right to say we should leave the middle east alone, but not completely. Think if there was no American presence there. The chaos that would happen would be catastrophic. The many terrorists groups there would see it as a perfect opportunity to strike wherever and whomever they please. I think we should limit the number of engagements we have, but still have a strong fist in the middle east. It's a sensitive area in the world were we need to have a presence.
