Hate Charges in Tulsa Shootings:Racism

http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/09/us/oklahoma-shootings/index.html?iref=allsearch

Jake England and Alvin Watts have been charged with three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shootings of five African-Americans. On Monday, a judge set their bail at $9.16 million each for shootings at four different locations. England posted racial slurs on his Facebook page the day before the shootings. Both men, who share a home, were charged Sunday with the murders. Tulsa was the scene of a race riot in 1921, but the city's Councilor says that that is not the way the people of Tulsa view race and their city should not be defined by this one incident.

I don't know how many times I can say this, but race is, obviously still prevlant in our culture. Now, I believe in the First Amendment, but I don't believe that prosecutors should take England's Facebook posts at face value. They can prove he and Watts were the shooters of the five people, so his posts should be indicitive of his racism and should be used to support the hate crime inhancement that the prosecution is going for. I hope they are both convicted and justice is found for the five people they shot.

  1. I agree and also hope they are convicted of all of their crimes committed. I still cannot believe the hate crimes related to race in this day and age.

  2. I 1000% agree that there is no cause for this, and the two of them should never see the light of day again.
