How Much Aid does Israel Receive?

http://aidtoisrael.org/article.php?id=3178

This article discusses the aid that has been given to Israel in the past, from 1948 to 2008. There is no exact amount that was found but a conservative estimate puts the total 103.6 billion dollars in that time period. The aid is not entirely military aid thought, Israel also receives economic aid as well along with a few miscellaneous reasons. The article then goes on to say that the Israeli prime minister has addressed congress about fading out economic aid, making them stand on their own feet more. Although fading out economic aid they discussed raising military aid, the projection for 2018 is we will increase annually 25 percent. Israel is well known as the largest recipient of US foreign aid and will likely hold on to that title in the coming years.

In my opinion giving over 100 billion dollars to a country is just ridiculous. We did help them become a country but at some point we just need to say enough is enough. Fading out the aid is important because if we are always there to save them they will not be able to handle situations without us intervening and coming to the rescue. Also I think that the american people need to get more knowledgeable about where our money goes, I can honestly say that I had no idea that we were spending so much money in Israel. As the people of a nation in a debt, we should be more conscious about where our money is going and how we can impact the amount that is spent.

  1. I agree with you completely, 100 billion is way to much even over that long period of time. They need to start taking care of themselves. We will not always be able to have their back if they are attacked. I know were like the big brother to most countries but we need to worry about our own problems before others. We need to be more selfish.

  2. Agreed. Though I think that we should still be willing to offer aid to Israel, I believe it is time to cut back on what we give them. If Israel believes that they are ready to stand on their own feet, I say we give them a chance. It is not like we wouldn't intervene with our military the minute we thought Israel might be overtaken by the Arab nations anyway.

  3. I hear yah, doesn't American realize that we are in debt! I'm glad that we were willing to help in the beginning, but it seems like we've gone a little far with giving. Heck, is it even worth it anymore!?

  4. I find it ridiculous how much we are giving them. Theyre not the only ones with problems, we have problems our selves, and by helping others we are making things worse.

  5. This is absurd!! 100 billion dollars is way too much! I think we should be spending that money on ourselves instead of Israel. We should fix our problems then help them. Why do we have to babysit every country who need financial aid?

  6. All I have to say is why? I understand that we helped to create Isreal and we help to keep them safe, but that 100 billion dollars could be going to the economy or to the defense budget. I guess we are trying to cut back on foriegn aid to Isreal, but I know that we will end up supporting them anyway.

  7. Yeah, I agree. Why should we be the only one giving them aid? I mean we could use that money for so many other things on U.S. soil. So then why do we still do it? Why do we give into the other countries? Maybe we should worry a little more about what WE need first.
