Russia on 2012 US Election

http://english.ruvr.ru/2011/06/29/52569920.html

The 2012 presidential election in the United States is set to be very entertaining. Why? Well, the candidates are very interesting and there are a good amount of them. Just recently, Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty entered the race in America. Bachmann is a social conservative who is strict on conservative values. Mainly, she also has the idea to replace Sarah Palin as the female candidate in the Republican Party. Again, the race will be entertaining because of the way the candidates act and how Russia never is used to having people like this run for president.

I agree with the Russians POV on the election. So far, it has been pretty entertaining with the front runner changes, the soundbites, etc. They are right on the dot on how the presidential election has been. I think Bachmann really does match Sarah Palin pretty well. And yes, this race is easy to make fun of because of what the candidates do, act like, and what they say or stand for. Especially candidates like Bachmann and Santorum who are extremely religious and find themselves as easy to make fun of as Russia isn't a very religious state.

The Voice of Russia is the Russian government's international radio broadcasting service owned by the All-Russia State Television and Radio Company. This serves a complete bias since it is government operated and owned. Basically, the Russian government will simply publish anything that they believe is the truth and will benefit them and shine themselves as the greatest news organization in the world.

  1. This article is definitely funny, however slightly outdated. Pawlenty was my boy, and then he dropped out... 7 months ago! America finally got tired of Bachmann's voice and she dropped out. I think the Russians nailed the Palin-Bachmann analogy.

  2. Agreed. Even now, seven months after those candidates have dropped out, it is still easy to poke a bit of fun at the candidates. It seems as if some of their ideas come out of no where. Russia definetly pays attention to our elections (as does much of Europe...often times more than we do.)
