Russian Opinion
North Korea plans to continue with its satellite launch this week despite many warnings from the United States and many of North Korea's neighbors. Japan has tightened its defenses as well as South Korea. South Korea has also threatened to shoot the North Korea satellite out of the sky if it comes into South Korean airspace. The United States is still trying to stop the launch of the North Korean satellite to no av-ale. North Korea also wants to commemorate their great leader Kim II-Sung by launching the satellite on his birthday. One good thing that has come out of negotiations, is that North Korea will allow journalist into the country to monitor and watch the launch process. This is a small step, but a good one in the case of North Korea.
North Korea needs to halt the launch of there satellite into space. They claim that it is for space exploration, but they have lied in the past. If the U.N. or the U.S. does not do something soon, they could soon have WW III on their hands. South Korea and Japan are very jumpy when it comes to North Korea test launches. Previously, North Korea test launched a ballistic missile that almost caused a war between North Korea and South Korea with the aid of Japan. North Korea needs to tread these waters carefully if they want to avoid war.
The source about this article comes from a Russian newspaper website called Rianovosti. I believe that it is a Russian site due to the name of the newspaper and the site name. The site ends in a .ru, Russia's personal website tag. It also has solid references and a copyright. The Russian opinion on South Korea is surprisingly similar to the United States. The only thing that is different between the United States and Russia, is that Russia does not believe in giving North Korea food in exchange for stopping their nuclear program. Personally, I believe that we should not be giving North Korea food due to that fact that they will just start up their program again once they get the food.
I agree that America needs to help influence a stop to the N Korean missle program. If this doesn't happen, then this nation would pose an international threat to nearly every other nation.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you analyzed the perception in the 3rd paragraph too. I'm afraid I didn't make that very clear in the assignment becuase I'm not seeing it in everyones'
ReplyDeleteI think Russia has the right idea about North Korea. I'm not quite sure that sending this satellite to space will bring around WW3, but who knows. I think it is a step in the right direction with North Korea, letting our reporters in to their land.
ReplyDeleteWell that didn't work out too well, now, did it? Maybe next time they'll launch a rocket that lasts more than 90 seconds. I'll bet a certain dictator is crying in his bed right now.
ReplyDeleteThe UN Security Council did announce they will meet to discuss and respond to the launch of the rocket. I think this launching of the rocket is very suspicious and could become a danger. They've said before that they wouldn't do stuff like this, yet they do it. Now, I don't think military intervention is the right idea as this can resume fighting in the Korean War (which is technically still going on today) or result in a full-scale war between North Korea and the US.
ReplyDeleteI am still not convinced about this whole satellite thing. They may as well paint "DirectTV" on the side, maybe that would almost convince me... except for the fact that few North Koreans have TVs...
